Phaco Tips is a body of work by Richard J. Mackool, M.D. and sponsored by a grant from Alcon Laboratories, Inc.

Dr. Mackool is the founder and Director of The Mackool Eye Institute and Laser Center, an internationally recognized expert on microsurgery of the eye, and the author of numerous articles, textbooks and textbook chapters on the subjects of phacoemulsification and IOL implantation.

Dr. Mackool has contributed to the design of several generations of phacoemulsification equipment and holds more than 50 patents in the field. He has performed tens of thousands of cataract-implant procedures, and thousands of pars plana vitrectomies and corneal transplants.

Contained here are useful tips and advice which reflect his broad experience in these areas. In 2002, Phaco Tips 1 - 120 were published in Dr. Mackool's book "Phaco Tips: The First Ten Years."
